The Yale School of the Environment invites applications two tenure-track positions:

Assistant Professor in Society and Forests

Assistant or Associate Professor position in Urban Sustainability

Applicants should have a growing record of research accomplishments based in the social sciences, and have a doctoral degree in sociology, anthropology, political science, human geography, or a related field, with the ability to develop an internationally-recognized research program. Ideal candidates will have experience with interdisciplinary approaches, community-level research, and be in conversation with the natural sciences.

The ideal candidate works at the interface of urban systems, climate adaptation, and climate mitigation and does policy-relevant science that has real world impact anchored in specific places, using quantitative or mixed-methods approaches. Applicants should have a growing record of research accomplishments based in the social, physical, engineering, or ecological sciences, have the ability to develop an internationally-recognized research program, and hold a PhD degree in a relevant field.

For both positions, the successful candidates will be expected to 1)teach and mentor students primarily at the PhD and Masters levels, and may contribute to the undergraduate degree program in Environmental Studies, 2) develop an internationally recognized research program that involves graduate students, 3) facilitate interdisciplinary research, and 4) contribute to building an inclusive academic environment.
