Emergency Medicine - Academic Opportunities in Baltimore, Maryland
The Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine is currently accepting applications from interested and qualified candidates to work in one of our four academic Emergency Departments located at the University of Maryland Medical Center Downtown Campus, the University of Maryland Medical Center Midtown Campus, the Baltimore Veterans Affairs Medical Center, and Mercy Medical Center. These academic positions include significant teaching opportunities with residents and medical students. In addition, these positions offer numerous opportunities for participation and involvement in operations and administration within the Department and the hospitals. Our twofold mission is to be universally recognized as the leading educators in Emergency Medicine across the world and the premier provider of emergency care in the region.
The anticipated rank is Assistant Professor; however, rank and tenure status are dependent upon the candidate’s qualifications.

CLINICAL - We operate the Emergency Departments at four hospitals in the heart of downtown Baltimore:
University of Maryland Medical Center-Downtown Campus, University of Maryland Medical Center-Midtown Campus, Mercy Medical Center, and the Baltimore Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Serving a diverse urban and underserved population, our physicians provide the highest level of care in state-of-the-art facilities.
ACADEMIC - Our Emergency Medicine physicians are faculty members of the University of Maryland School of Medicine, the first public medical school in the United States and one of the fastest-growing top-tier biomedical research enterprises in the world. The University of Maryland School of Medicine was ranked 10th in U.S. News & World Report's 2024 rankings of "Best Medical Schools: Primary Care", and 36th in "Best Medical School: Research. TEACHING - Our physicians are heavily involved in the education of medical students and residents every day. RESEARCH - Our Emergency Medicine faculty are a diverse group of clinical, basic science, and epidemiologic investigators who have successfully competed for grants on a national level. We collaborate with multiple disciplines and continue to expand our research program.
RESIDENCY AND FELLOWSHIPS - Our Emergency Medicine Residency Program, with over 70 residents, is one of the nation’s largest and most respected. We are the only program in the country to offer training in four tracks: emergency medicine, emergency medicine/pediatrics, emergency medicine/internal medicine, and emergency medicine/internal medicine/critical care. We also offer fellowships in diverse areas including administrative leadership, cardiology, critical care, faculty development, health policy and leadership, research, and ultrasound.

Requirements
Qualifications:
Candidates must be board certified or board eligible in Emergency Medicine
