Under general supervision and direction of the Deputy Superintendent, serves as a liaison administrator between the Deputy Superintendent and the principals of the District in providing direction and development of curriculum and instruction in alignment with student achievement goals of the District and oversees other matters related to special education. Plan, implement, monitor, and evaluate special education and early learning programs, and nursing services under the direct supervision of the Deputy Superintendent. This position directly supervises four Special Education Supervisors, Early Learning Supervisor, Health Services Manager, Director’s Secretary and other support staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
Master’s Degree with a major in special education or appropriate related field.
Successful experience as a classroom teacher and/or in a support position.
Demonstrated ability to work successfully with people.
Evidence of experience and training needed to perform the functions described in the Executive Director of Special Education job description.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
