Description

Position Description

The Department of Radiology in the School of Medicine at the University of Washington in Seattle is seeking applications for one full-time (100% FTE) faculty position in the Breast Imaging Section at the level of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor, without tenure (WOT) by reason of funding, commensurate with experience in clinical, research, and education domains.  Experience appropriate to appointment on the physician-scientist pathway is preferred.  The Breast Imaging Section is comprised of 10 clinical faculty, 1 research faculty, and 4 fellows.  This position has an anticipated start date of January 1, 2025.  Assistant Professors WOT are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30).  Associate Professors WOT hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30).  Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.

Responsibilities include clinical coverage of the breast imaging service, instruction of medical students, diagnostic radiology residents and breast imaging fellows, and pursuit of academic scholarly interests.  The breast imaging section provides clinical coverage and teaching at our medical centers (UW Medical Center – Montlake Campus, UW Medical Center – Northwest Campus, Harborview Medical Center, and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center).  The successful faculty candidate will be expected to perform clinical work in all aspects of breast imaging at both the UW Medical Center – Northwest Campus and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center sites.  Under the direction of Dr. Janie Lee, the section is closely integrated with clinical and research programs throughout the UW Medical Center and Fred Hutchinson Cancer to provide the highest level of comprehensive care for breast disease.  All UW faculty engage in teaching, research, and service. Scholarship contributions will vary depending on whether the successful candidate elects the physician-scientist or clinician-teacher pathway.

The base salary range for this position will be: $30,322 - $37,251 per month ($363,864 - $447,012 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.  This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University.  Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations.  Compensation provided by UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.  This position is incentive eligible through the physicians practice plan.
