Pay Range
$20.00 - $20.00
Education/Experience:
- Currently in the second year of the Forsyth Technical Community College's Radiation Therapy Program
- One year of training in the Forsyth Technical Community College's Radiation Therapy Program
Certification:
Certification in cardio-pulmonary resuscitation
Essential Functions:
- Adheres to the general hospital standards to promote a cooperative work environment by utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships and team building.
- Prepares linear accelerators and radiation therapy equipment effectively and efficiently while under the supervision and/or direction of staff therapists and supervisors.
- Adheres to radiation exposure regulations and practices to ensure adequate radiation protection.
- Ensures accurate patient records via correct data entry, validation and archival of images.
- Provides age-developmentally appropriate care in accordance with Age-Developmental Specific Guidelines for the age groups served when participating in patient care.
Skills:
- Able to communicate on a professional level with physicians, nurses and other ancillary professional staff when discussing treatments and patient care.
- Clinical skills to enable recognition and to function accordingly in relation to prioritizing of patient needs.
- Adaptable to changing work schedules.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Subject to electrical and radiant energy hazards.
- Exposed to hazardous anesthetic agents, body fluids and wastes.
- Frequently exposed to radiation hazards.
- Exposedto a variety of electro-mechanical/power equipment.
- Exposed to housekeeping/cleaning agents/chemicals.
- Subject to hazards of flammable, explosive gases.
- Subject to injury from moving parts of equipment.
- Exposed to unpleasant elements (accidents, injuries, and illness).
- Subject to varying and unpredictable situations.
- Handles emergency or crisis situations.
- Subject to long irregular hours.
- May be exposed to infections and contagious diseases.
- Occasional exposure to unpleasant patient or unit elements.

- Regularly exposed to the risk of blood-borne diseases.
