Position Description
I. Specific Responsibilities and Duties
In addition to mutually agreed upon goals to be developed in partnership with the department director, and the division chief, the assistant professor shall assume the following responsibilities and duties:
Clinical: Service commensurate with your skills in pediatric and congenital cardiac surgery at a clinical commitment of 80% effort. You are expected to support the pediatric cardiac surgery service call (approximately 50% of total call coverage). We expect you to be clinical 4 days/week. Your practice will focus on complex pediatric cardiac surgical patients ranging from neonates to adult congenital cases, including pediatric cardiac transplantation. In partnership with the Chief Pediatric Cardiac Surgeon, you will support all other divisional clinical needs including, but not limited to: consult services, pre- and post-op ambulatory care, bedside procedural needs, and multidisciplinary rounding.
General Academic and Teaching: We anticipate that you will devote 5% of your time to the formal and informal instruction of medical students, residents, and fellows. We would expect that you would participate in operative resident teaching and education, attend division conferences, participate in national organizations, continue to produce scholarly output, participate fully in the BTT HC Mortality and Morbidity Conference, the Surgery Staff Conferences, and the Department of Surgery and Division Faculty meetings. Academic effort should also continue to focus on clinical and translational research programs, as applicable.
Research: We expect you to devote 15% of your time to research activities, reflective of existing grant funding as well as future grant submissions. As you know we have a strong BTT HC research arm led by our pediatric cardiac research director, Dr. Hee Cheol Cho. This team of multiple faculty, a research operations manager, and some additional resources inclusive of strong institutional support will be available for you to support your clinical research activities
